Whether you’ve considered it for your entire nine months of pregnancy or just within the last few weeks, adoption is a difficult decision. Working with a reputable adoption agency means you have the support and counseling you need before, during, and after placement.
Choosing The Adoption Agency
You should select an adoption agency that provides not only the state’s adoption regulations, but also emotional and physical support. A Gift of Hope Adoptions has the resources and counselors to help you make this critical decision.
All of our services are entirely free for expectant mothers and birth mothers. You pay nothing for legal representation, counseling, agency fees, etc. The adoptive couple you choose typically pays those expenses.
Missouri Regulations For Birth Mother Assistance
As in all states, it is illegal to pay money to a woman in exchange for her baby in Missouri. An expectant mother or birth mother can receive payment for “customary and reasonable” living expenses related to her pregnancy and giving birth.
A one-on-one meeting between our adoption specialist and each expectant mother helps us determine her financial needs and the assistance required. Our agency arranges payment for possible living and pregnancy-related expenses such as rent, utilities, groceries, transportation to medical appointments, and even maternity clothes.
Missouri allows payment for all medical expenses for the birth mother and baby (if not already covered by Medicaid or the birth mother’s insurance). Sometimes, the adoptive parents provide ongoing support, such as counseling for the birth mother after giving birth.
