Some situations in life can only be understood and discussed with others who have been through the same experience. Being a birth parent is one of those situations. Unless you have carried a child for nine months, placed them with other parents, and moved forward to find healing, you cannot understand the emotions felt.
Connecting with other birth parents is a vital part of the healing process. You can speak the same language and truly understand one another’s struggles and emotions.
At A Gift of Hope Adoptions, we connect you with other birth mothers, whether you are expecting and considering adoption or you’ve already placed your child. Let us help you find the community that can support you. Contact A Gift of Hope today at 888-564-HOPE (4673).
Are There Organizations I Can Connect With?
Several national organizations help birth mothers find one another, and we can put you in touch with birth mothers we have worked with locally. Here are a few of the organizations you can contact:
BraveLove
By their very name, BraveLove recognizes the strength and courage it takes to place your child for adoption. They offer multiple resources for birth parents and can connect you with groups in your area.
BraveLove provides specific resources for birth mothers, including information about support groups, retreats, area dinners, and recommendations for books, podcasts, and more. Read and hear other birth moms tell their stories. They even offer a space where you can share your own experience.
Postpartum Support International
Postpartum Support International (PSI) recognizes the unique emotions a birth mother feels in relation to those who choose to parent. They understand that post-adoption depression is very real.
In addition to offering mental health resources, they provide information on support groups, peer mentorships, and a free helpline. You can even enter a Zoom online group anonymously.
Adoption Savvy
Adoption Savvy provides resources for everyone in the adoption triad. They serve adult adoptees, birth families, and adoptive families.
They offer individual counseling and online coaching, birth mother support groups, workshops, and retreats. Listen to the Birth Moms Real Talk podcast to get a sense of the encouragement they can offer.
